FAQ

Is this real? Will my Member of Congress listen to a robot?

Yes and yes. This is a completely serious service for anyone who wants to contact their elected officials. We've done a lot of testing and as long as your message is sincere and polite your representatives will listen to it.

How will I know when my call is received?

Every call we make gets a status page where you can track its progress. Optionally, you can leave us your email address and we'll send you a notification when your call is made.

Can I listen to my call?

Yes. After your call is completed successfully, you'll be able to listen to a recording of it. You can find a link to the recording on the status page.

Does it cost anything?

To keep the service sustainable we charge $0.64 per call.

Will you tell me what to say?

Nope. Congress mostly ignores generic messages and form letters. We can help you structure your message but the content is all up to you.

Why?

Most experts agree that calling is the most effective way to contact your representatives. But looking up multiple numbers and verbally expressing your message can be time consuming and stressful. Some people are just more comfortable writing than they are speaking. The goal of Robo Call Congress is to make it easier for everyone to maximize the impact of their message.

What if my congressperson doesn't answer the call?

Our robots will wait an hour and then try a different number. Most reps have a least two (some as many as eight) office phone numbers. Our robots will try to calling up to 5 times. After that, we'll format your message into a letter and fax it to them.

What if they hang up in the middle of my call?

They probably won't, but if your rep doesn't listen to your entire message, we consider it a failed call. We'll wait and try a different number. After 5 failed calls we'll send a fax.

How will they know who's calling? What if they want to respond?

By default we include your name, city and zip code at the start of the call. After listening to your message, your rep(s) get the option to replay it or to hear your name and location again. If you'd like a response, we recommend including an email, phone number or mailing address in the body of your message.
